We have not worn any of these vests. Every pick earned its place three ways: the maker publishes a list price under $100, the maker publishes real specifications we can link, and the vest scored on the vest rubric in our published First-Season Score — seat and back support 25%, call and shell storage 25%, weight 20%, quiet materials 15%, size range 15% — from maker pages read 2026-09-28.

On prices: this site does not print live prices, because Amazon prices change constantly and a printed number goes stale the day it is published. What we can do is check the maker's own list price, cite it, and date it. Every price on this page is the maker's published figure on 2026-09-28, with a link. What you pay through the buy buttons is set by Amazon and will differ — sometimes below the list price, occasionally above it.

Why the TIDEWE Ultra-Light ranks first

Because on published specifications it gives up almost nothing to vests costing twice as much. TIDEWE lists it at 2.51 lb with 11 storage compartments and magnetic closures, a 17L expandable load area, a sleeve for a 2L hydration bladder plus a tube port and an outside bottle pocket, four adjustment points, and a high-rebound memory foam seat that folds down as you sit.

Two details lift it above the generic budget-vest crowd. It ships with a bright orange safety cloth — the thing every state agency spring-safety page asks turkey hunters to carry and almost no vest actually includes. And TIDEWE publishes a warranty: one year limited on materials and workmanship, plus a 30-day money-back promise. At $69.99 that is more written commitment than Kick's offers on a choke tube.

The honest catch: no fabric information at all, which means no noise claim we can check, and no backrest. If you sit for four hours against a tree with no back support, you will feel it before the birds do.

The two that sit right on the line

The ALPS OutdoorZ Impact is listed “as low as $99.99” on ALPS's own store, which puts it one cent under the cap and makes it the most vest you can get for the money. It is the only pick here with a flip-down seat and backrest rather than a cushion, ALPS publishes a 3 lb 11 oz weight for the Standard size, and it now comes in a Small for smaller frames. If you can stretch to the full hundred, this is the one we would buy.

The DSG Outerwear Women's Turkey Vest at $99.98 is here for a different reason: it is the only vest in this registry built on a women's pattern rather than a men's pattern with longer straps. One size fits XS to XL on padded, adjustable shoulder and stomach straps, and the storage list is a proper turkey list — a box call holder, two individual slate pockets, a mesh dual mouth call holder, six shell holders and a back game pouch. The ALPS Ambush Sling Pack at $69.99 is not a vest and we have labelled it as such. It is on the page because at this budget it is a real alternative: 1 lb, a silent box call pocket, a slate pocket for two calls and three strikers, and a ThermaCELL pocket. What missed the cap, and by how much

Three vests we like are just over the line, and it is worth knowing by how much before you decide the cap is sacred.

The Knight & Hale Run N' Gun 200 is $119.99 on Knight & Hale's own store — twenty dollars over, for the lightest seat vest in this registry at 1.5 lb, a 10-point adjustment system, a removable six-layer cushioned seat and a 198 cu in bladder-compatible backpack. If your budget has any flex at all, that is where we would spend it; it is our pick on the run-and-gun page.

The ALPS Traditions ($119.99) and Super Elite 4.0 (from $129.99) are both integrated-seat vests built for long sits. And the Primos Will Primos Turkey Vest is $199.99 at Primos, which is double the cap and not close.

What we will not do is pretend a $110 vest is a $95 vest. If the hundred-dollar line is a real line for you, the four picks above are the ones that clear it.

What $100 does not buy

Three things, consistently, and they are worth naming so you are not surprised.

• A kickstand frame. Nothing under $100 gives you a seat that stands up on its own with a backrest. The ALPS Grand Slam does that and lists at $219.99. If you hunt open fields with no usable tree, that feature is the reason to save up.
• Published fabric and noise information. DSG publishes 100% polyester; TIDEWE publishes nothing. Neither makes a quietness claim we can check, and our rubric scores that honestly rather than assuming.

What to insist on at this price

If you are spending under a hundred dollars, four features are non-negotiable and the rest is nice to have.

1. A real seat. Thick foam, removable or fold-away. You will sit for hours; this is the whole purpose of the garment.
2. A quiet, dedicated box call pocket. A box call rattling in a general pocket is a dinner bell for every bird that is not coming.
3. Shell loops within reach while seated. Not in a zipped pocket behind your hip.
4. A game bag. The pack in this list has none, and that is its one real weakness for a first season.

Buyer's guide: spending under a hundred dollars well

The honest truth about a first turkey season is that the vest is not where the money matters most. A $70 vest and a patterned gun will kill more turkeys than a $220 vest and an unpatterned one. If your total budget is tight, this is the order we would spend in:

1. Shells and a pattern target. Pattern the gun. Nothing else you buy matters until the gun puts pellets in a 10 in circle at 40 yards — see how to pattern a turkey gun.
2. A choke that matches your shells, if the factory tube does not pattern.
3. A vest from this page, or a pack and a cushion.

Two buying notes specific to the budget end of the market. First, list prices here move around: the TIDEWE was $69.99 down from $79.99 and the DSG was $99.98 down from $149.99 on the day we checked, so a vest that is over the cap this month may be under it next month. Second, a lot of near-identical unbranded turkey vests exist on Amazon at $50 to $70 with no maker site, no published weight and no warranty. We do not rank those, because there is nothing to source and nobody to hold to it.
