2.51 lb, and why the number matters
Start here, because it is the most useful thing on TIDEWE's page. The vest weighs 2.51 lb, published. That matters twice over.
First, most of this category refuses to tell you. Avian-X publishes no weight for the Ridge Runner. ALPS does publish weights, and the spread is instructive: a kickstand vest with its frame fitted runs several pounds heavier. A hunter who moves six times before lunch feels every ounce of that, and turkey hunting is walking.
Second, 2.51 lb with a memory-foam seat is genuinely light for a vest that has a seat at all. The only vest in our registry that undercuts it with a seat is Knight & Hale's Run N' Gun 200 at 1.5 lb, which is the direct rival here and scores 6.6 as well. Everything lighter than that — the ALPS Ambush Sling Pack at 1 lb — has no seat at all.
Our rubric scores weight at 20% and the TIDEWE takes 8 of 10 there, which is the single biggest reason a $70 vest lands within half a point of vests that cost twice as much. The full ranking is in best turkey vests.
The magnetic fold-down seat
TIDEWE describes a high-rebound memory foam seat with a quick fold-down design, held in place by a magnetic interface. In practice that means the seat lives flat against the pack until you sit, and the magnet is what stops it flapping around while you walk.
That is the right mechanism for a run-and-gun vest, and Avian-X uses the same idea on the Ridge Runner, calling it “silent seat retention.” Magnets are quiet; buckles and hook-and-loop are not, and the sound of hook-and-loop opening at 40 yards is a well-earned cliché.
Our rubric gives the TIDEWE 6 of 10 on seat and back support: credit for a published padded seat, nothing for the back it does not support. That single metric is a quarter of the score and the main reason it sits mid-table rather than near the top.
Eleven compartments and a bladder sleeve
TIDEWE publishes 11 storage compartments with magnetic closures, a load area that expands to 17L, a 2L hydration bladder sleeve with a tube port, and an external water bottle pocket.
Eleven is a real number for a vest at this price, and the hydration provision is unusual — most turkey vests assume you will carry a bottle in a pocket. If you hunt all-day seasons in warm country, a bladder sleeve is worth more than two extra call pockets.
What the page does not do is break those 11 down into turkey-specific pockets the way the premium vests do. ALPS names 22 pockets on the Super Elite 4.0; Avian-X names an EVA-molded box call and striker pocket and a separate pot call and diaphragm pocket. A molded box-call pocket is not a marketing flourish — it is what keeps a box call from rattling against shells, and it is why we rank call storage at 25%. The TIDEWE takes 8 of 10 here, with the hydration sleeve doing some of that work.
If you own a growing call collection, read how to choose a turkey vest before deciding that 11 compartments is enough.
The orange cloth nobody else includes
TIDEWE includes a bright orange safety cloth for field visibility, and it is the only vest in our registry that does.
That is not a throwaway accessory. Vermont Fish & Wildlife's turkey hunting safety tips tell hunters to “wrap your turkey in blaze orange for the hike back to your vehicle,” and Maryland DNR's turkey hunting safety guidance makes the same point about carrying decoys and harvested birds covered. Hunter-orange requirements for spring turkey vary by state — some require it at certain times, some only recommend it — and having a piece of orange in the vest means you can comply or be visible without a second purchase.
We do not award rubric points for it, because our rubric scores seat, storage, weight, quiet materials and sizes. It is still the detail on this product page that suggests TIDEWE has talked to turkey hunters. The state-by-state orange picture is in what to wear turkey hunting.
What TIDEWE does not publish
Two gaps, and they cost it real points.
No fabric. TIDEWE names no material and makes no noise claim, so our quiet-materials metric scores 4 of 10 by default. On a turkey vest this is the omission that matters most: fabric noise at 30 yards is the difference between a shot and a bird walking off, and a maker that publishes a brushed or napped shell is telling you something a maker that stays silent is not. DSG, by contrast, publishes 100% polyester on its women's vest, and ALPS describes its fabrics.
One size, four adjustment points. TIDEWE fits everyone with four adjusters. That is fewer than Knight & Hale's ten on the Run N' Gun 200, and it is a real consideration at both ends of the size range: a small-framed hunter may find a one-size vest sags, and a big-framed one may run out of strap. Our sizes metric gives it 6 of 10. If you are at the edges, read best turkey vests for big guys or best youth turkey vests.
On the other side of the ledger, TIDEWE does publish warranty terms, which half this category does not: one-year limited coverage for defects in materials and workmanship, plus a 30-day money-back promise.
The TIDEWE against three rivals
Three vests worth weighing it against: the direct lightweight rival, the one that adds a backrest, and our top-ranked vest overall. Everything in these tables is the maker's own published figure, linked to the page it came from.
Read the three comparisons as three different questions. Against the Run N' Gun 200 it is a tie on our rubric and a choice between hydration and adjustability. Against the Impact you are deciding whether you need a backrest. Against the Super Elite 4.0 you are deciding whether call storage is worth the weight and the money.
Who should buy it, and who should not
Buy the TIDEWE if: this is your first turkey vest; you want a published weight and a published warranty at the bottom of the market; you hunt where you can lean against a tree; you want hydration built in; or you are buying for someone whose commitment to turkey hunting is still unproven and a $70 vest is the right bet.
Buy something else if: you hunt open ground with no good trees and need a backrest or kickstand; you carry a large call collection and want molded, labelled pockets for each type; you are at either extreme of the size range; or fabric noise is the thing you worry about most, in which case buy from a maker that publishes its fabric.
One honest closing note on what a review like this can and cannot tell you. We do not test vests. Every figure above is TIDEWE's own published specification, read on its own product page and linked to it, and scored against the same rubric as every other vest on this site. What that gets you is a fair comparison of what makers claim; what it cannot tell you is how the seat feels in hour three. For that, buy within the 30-day return window and go sit on the ground.

How we picked this
Scored on the specs that decide your season
Every pick is read off the maker's own specs, materials and instructions, then scored on a public rubric built around a first-season hunter: the sounds a call is made to produce and how it holds up in rain, a choke's load ratings and thread chart, the weights, pockets and seat heights you carry all morning. Each figure links straight to the page it came from, so you can check any pick in one click.
Scores come from that documented research with fixed bands, and prices come live from Amazon with the date they were checked. Commissions never set a score or decide a pick. The rubric and its bands are published.

Questions
Frequently asked
Is the TIDEWE turkey vest any good?
It scores 6.6 of 10 on our vest rubric, which puts it level with Knight & Hale's Run N' Gun 200 and within a point of vests costing twice as much. The strengths are a published 2.51 lb weight, 11 compartments with a hydration sleeve, a magnetic memory-foam seat and published warranty terms. The weaknesses are no backrest, no published fabric and one size with four adjusters.
How much does the TIDEWE Ultra-Light turkey vest weigh?
2.51 lb, published by TIDEWE. That is light for a vest with a memory-foam seat; the only seat vest in our registry that is lighter is Knight & Hale's Run N' Gun 200 at 1.5 lb.
Does the TIDEWE turkey vest have a kickstand?
No. It has a magnetic fold-down memory foam seat, which is a cushion rather than a chair — there is no backrest and no kickstand frame. For back support on open ground, look at a kickstand or recliner vest, or carry a separate chair.
Does the TIDEWE vest come with a warranty?
Yes: TIDEWE publishes one-year limited coverage for defects in materials and workmanship, plus a 30-day money-back promise. That is more than several more expensive vests in this category publish.
Is the TIDEWE vest good for a beginner?
It is one of the most sensible first vests available: it carries calls in dedicated compartments, gives you a padded seat, weighs a published 2.51 lb and includes an orange safety cloth. Just know that you are buying a cushion, not a chair.
What is the difference between the TIDEWE vest and a vest with a seat frame?
A seat frame or kickstand holds your back up where there is no suitable tree, at the cost of several pounds and a higher price. The TIDEWE's foam seat only insulates you from the ground. If most of your setups are against trees, the lighter vest is the better trade.
